

SILENT AUCTION
We've put together a wonderful array of 12 silent auction prizes, all featuring unique experiences that highlight our beautiful village, town, hamlets and the surrounding mid-Hudson Valley ~ think private tours of interesting places not generally open to the public. Four Wappinger artists have volunteered their time and talents to each create a unique piece of art from furniture that was once in the village of Wappingers Falls meeting room. BUT, if you can't wait, or won't be able to attend that evening, you have the opportunity to "Buy it Now" at a set price, and then it's yours! No one else will be able to bid on it. Private Tour for Six with Champagne & Charcuterie Board Reception at the Historic General Jacobus Swartwout Homestead in East Fishkill, NY
​Hear about the notable achievements of Revolutionary War General Jacobus Swartwout, and learn about the Swartwout family and the hamlet of Swartwoutville while touring the historic Swartwout Homestead with the Town of Wappinger Historian (and Town Supervisor) Joseph Cavaccini. Your exclusive tour will be followed by a champagne and charcuterie board reception for your group of up to 6 people.
General Jacobus Swartwout, born in 1734, was a member of the Commission for Detecting Conspiracies along with John Jay and Melancton Smith. The men met in Fishkill during the Revolution. As a Colonel, General Swartwout was the commanding officer of the 1st Regiment of the Dutchess County Militia, and numerous other regiments of troops. He also served with the NYS Convention and had a part in the state ratifying the US Constitution. During Marquis de Lafayette's farewell tour of the United States in 1824, General Swartwout rode horseback from his home at the age of 89 to dine next to the Marquis at a reception held in honor of Lafayette at the City of Poughkeepsie.

Marian McEvoy has transformed a former Village of Wappingers Falls meeting room chair with her signature floral designs, featuring bright colors that contrast against black and white backgrounds. The seat showcases a decoupaged vignette made with felt, complementing the natural patterns on the chair's structure. Created by Marian McEvoy, 2025.

Marian McEvoy is a distinguished figure in fashion journalism and interior design. Her career began in fashion journalism, where she served as the European editor for Women’s Wear Daily and W in Paris. During her 17-year tenure in Paris, McEvoy also contributed to publications such as the International Herald Tribune, French Vogue, and the Sunday Times of London. ​

In the late 1980s, McEvoy returned to the United States to become the founding editor of Elle Décor, a role in which she significantly influenced interior design publishing. Her editorial vision later led her to the position of editor-in-chief at House Beautiful.
​
After moving to Wappingers Falls in 1997, McEvoy retired from the publishing world in 2002 to focus on personal creative endeavors, immersing herself in crafting, creating unique home décor items such as collages with pressed flowers, obelisks adorned with cork, and lampshades with whimsical drawings. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for nature, natural forms and folk art.
