About the event
Wappingers Falls Historic costumed characters at Mesier Homestead!
As part of New York State’s Path Through History, we will be offering a FREE interactive costumed event on Sunday, October 16th.  Visitors will be able to meet the men and women who contributed to the history and growth of the village of Wappingers Falls. While visiting the rooms of the Mesier Homestead, discover the Revolutionary War patriotism of Nicholas Brower, the influence of the Mesier family and the contributions of the Clapp family. Learn about Irving Grinnell, founder of the Grinnell Library, hear stories from Rush Hotel owner George Rush, and discover what life was like in 1933 from village resident Edith Cornell.
Groups will be guided through the house by volunteers from the historical society. The program takes place from 1:00pm-3:30pm with the program offered every ½ hour, beginning at 1:00pm. The last group to enter the house will be at 3:30pm.  There is no charge for admission, however, donations are gratefully accepted.  Our gift shop will be open for early holiday shopping, and you'll be able to sample some delicious treats made from recipes in our WHS cookbook collection!
