Wappingers Historical Society Presents: Tom Lake, Archaeologist, SUNY Dutchess Community College Presentation "A Journey through 20,000 years of Prehistory at Clinton Point"
We will travel from a time when 10,000 feet of ice covered our area, to the first humans to walk in the Hudson Valley, to the final erasure of native people from the landscape. From the hundreds of stone artifacts recovered at Clinton Point at the Stoneco and Camelot sites, we will create a 7,000 year-long timeline of occupation and attempt to discover the culture of the Wappinger Indians and their Algonquian ancestors.
To guarantee entrance, register in advance by calling 845-430-9520. A donation of five dollars per person would be appreciated. Hot and cold beverages will be available for purchase. All donations are used to support future programs and the restoration of Mesier Homestead.
